Delegate Discovery With an Evidence Handoff
An authentication investigation can touch dozens of files before identifying the two interfaces that matter. Keeping all that exploration in the implementation conversation may leave less room for the actual change.
A scoped subagent can investigate token refresh or locate an existing OAuth utility in a separate context. Ask it to return the finding, exact source paths and revision, the relevant excerpts, and what remains uncertain.
That summary is a handoff to verify. The subagent can miss a call site, confuse generated code with its source or return an outdated conclusion. Trace consequential claims into the named files before building on them.
The reading also still consumes the subagent's tokens and time. Use the pattern to manage context and responsibility, not to pretend discovery is free or that a concise answer is complete.
